Spain: The Center for Cross-Cultural Studies

Seville is the centerpiece for your Spanish immersion experience. A beautiful and ancient city on the banks of the Guadalquivir River, Seville has a temperate climate and a rich cultural life. A Roman city in 205 B.C., Seville became a great port and was held successively by the Visigoths and the Moors until King Ferdinand III of Castille conquered it in 1248. Seville is known for its Moorish palaces, Renaissance gardens, paintings, statues, and world-famous ceramic tiles.

While these inspiring and historic sites are the backdrop of everyday life in modern Seville, Spain's fourth largest city is very cosmopolitan. The bustling commercial center is filled with typical business and trade activities, and an efficient public transportation system links the various neighborhoods and attractions.

The sevillanos are a gracious and social people, welcoming visitors and eager to introduce them to the life and culture of their city.

The Center for Cross-Cultural Studies has provided a unique learning experience for students in the historic city of Seville since 1969. Students from almost any academic discipline can study here in Spanish. Students study current events in Spain and have the opportunity to be involved in research projects, internships, and other course work. Upper division courses are available for qualified students who are proficient in Spanish.
