Japan: International Christian University

ICU is located just outside of Tokyo, in a town called Mitaka. The campus is wooded and seems distant from the city, but can be easily reached by train in about 40 minutes. Various temples, nice parks, and great restaurants are all nearby.

ICU was founded as a unique experiment in international and Christian education, by individuals and groups from Japan and North America. They created a small liberal arts college based on the Western model and dedicated to the premise that knowledge of languages and other cultures would speed the processes of democratization and internationalization of Japan.

ICU is a small private liberal arts college with approximately 2,900 students. Both the Japanese and English languages are utilized. Students study the Japanese language and culture, along with courses in their major, taught in English. All academic majors can participate in the program.
