Regents
and Presidential Scholarships $15,000-full tuition
Last year, Wartburg awarded nearly 500 Regents and Presidential Scholarships to first-year students valued at about $8.4 million. Wartburg evaluates merit based scholarships on a combination of a student’s high school grade point average, class rank, and ACT/SAT score. Typically, students who have a high school minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 and rank in the top 25 percent of their high school class AND have an ACT composite score of 23 (1080 SAT) or higher will receive a Regents or Presidential Scholarship. Students who qualify and choose to participate in one of Wartburg’s Scholarship Days have the opportunity to increase their Regents or Presidential Scholarship. All awards are based on merit and not financial need, are renewable for a maximum of eight terms contingent upon full time enrollment and the maintenance of at least a 2.7 cumulative grade point average.
Meistersinger
Music Scholarship up to $5,000 per year
To qualify, you must respond to an audition invitation and be accepted for admission. Competition is open to music and non-music majors. To maintain the scholarship, you must participate in an ensemble. If your scholarship is for $2500 or above you must enroll in music lessons each term.
McElroy
Scholarship / Slife
Scholarship full tuition
For first-year underrepresented students, based on recommendation and grade
point average. Preference to students from the Waterloo/Cedar Falls,
Iowa, area. Renewable based on academic performance.
Phi
Theta Kappa Scholarship $1,500 per year for two years
Awarded to transfer students who are active members of Phi Theta Kappa at a two-year institution. You must be accepted for admission and complete a scholarship application, have a minimum 3.3 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale, and have completed at least 30 semester hours of transfer credit by March 1.
John
Deere Credit Scholarship up to $2,250 per year
Awarded to ethnic minority students from Des Moines public schools
with a minimum ACT composite score of 19, rank in top half of graduating
class and GPA of 3.0. Students who meet the criteria for the scholarship
need to submit the scholarship application and complete an interview.
International & Overseas American Student Scholarships amounts vary Awarded to international and overseas Americans based on merit.
Tuition
Exchange Program for Imports up to full tuition
Dependents of employees at other higher education institutions may qualify for the tuition exchange program.
Cedar
Valley Science Symposium Scholarship up to $1,500 per
year
Offered each fall as a part of the Cedar Valley Science Symposium
at Wartburg. For first-year students on the basis of participation
in the Cedar Valley Science Symposium. Not based on financial
need. Contact the college by the end of September for information.
Communication
Arts Scholarship up to $1,500 per year
Offered to prospective students on the basis of participation in the Communications Arts visit day and/or summer camp. The communication area of emphasis may change from year to year. Attendance at the visit day and camp must be prior to enrollment. Not based on financial need.
Americorps
Matching Grant (PDF)
Matches up to 50 percent of the AmeriCorps Education Award for
students who meet selection criteria.
All-State and/or Lutheran Summer Music Academy Recognition
A $1000 minimum Meistersinger Music Scholarship is awarded to a student who is an All State participant and/or alumnus of the Lutheran Summer Music Academy and Festival. Students have the opportunity to increase their Meistersinger scholarship by auditioning. Please see Meistersinger Music Scholarship description.
State Pageant Award
Awarded to Iowa, Colorado, and Missouri State Pageant participants. Winner of each pageant will receive a $2000 scholarship. First runner-up will be awarded a $1500 scholarship.
National
Merit Finalist Scholarship $2,000 per year
Awarded to first-year students who list Wartburg as their first
choice with the National Merit Corporation and are selected as
finalists.
Wartburg College Funded,
Endowed Scholarships $50-$2,500 per year
A total of 471 scholarships recognizing academic talents, vocational
goals, and personal characteristics. Recipients recommended by academic
departments. Primarily for upper-class students. Other awards may
be affected by the receipt of a funded or endowed scholarship.
Transfer Grant $8,000
For transfer students who demonstrate financial need. Amount is determined by need and grade point average. The longevity of all institutional funding will be prorated based on status upon enrollment.
Transfer Scholarship $10,000 to $15,000
Scholarship amount is calculated based on a transfer grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The longevity of all institutional funding will be prorated based on status upon enrollment. Renewal of this scholarship requires maintaining a 2.7 GPA.
Diversity Grant amount determined by need
For under-represented students with academic potential. Free Application
for Federal Aid (FAFSA) must be completed.
Out-of State-Grant variable amount
For students residing outside Iowa who demonstrate academic potential.
Based on financial need. Free Application for Federal Student Aid
(FAFSA) must be submitted to the processor by July 1 of the award
year.
Wartburg College Grant variable amount
For students with academic potential who demonstrate financial
need AND for first-year students with no other scholarship support
from Wartburg College. Amounts are determined by financial need
and academic achievement.
Legacy Grant $1,500
per year
For full-time students with alumni parent(s) and/or grandparents,
and students with a sibling who currently attends or has graduated
from Wartburg. Applicable toward tuition. Not based on financial
need.
Education
Partners in Covenant (EPIC) up to $750 per year
For members of participating congregations of the Evangelical
Lutheran Church in America. A matching funds program between the
congregation and the college. Not based on financial need. Wartburg
matches up to $750 per academic year.
