Daniel Black
Professor of Physical and Engineering Sciences; B.S. (with distinction), 1986, Iowa State University, M.S., 1990, Iowa State University; Ph.D., 1993, Iowa State University (All degrees in Aerospace Engineering)
Dr. Black has a wealth of experience in engineering and education. From 1983-85 he assisted in balance calibration, development of opto-electronic data acquisition systems, and flight test engineering for the McDonnell Aircraft Company. From 1986-87 he served as a laboratory engineer for McDonnell, conducting research in improved wind tunnel technology and methods.
In the late 1980s and early 90s he developed computational methods for the prediction of separated flow past airfoils and helped develop a mathematical/statistical theory of turbulence as a research assistant at Iowa State University. He has taught in higher education institutions since 1991.
