WHAT DID YOU NEVER IMAGINE YOU WOULD DO BEFORE COMING TO WARTBURG: I had never been on an airplane! For a May term class, I took my first plane ride to Tanzania. It was an experience that got me interested in traveling and discovering more of the world.

HOW DID YOUR WARTBURG EXPERIENCE PREPARE YOU FOR LIFE AFTER COLLEGE: I was inspired to apply for the ELCA’s Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM) program, and ended up living in Soweto, South Africa for one year. My friends, professors, mentors, and experiences at Wartburg prepared me to be confident and brave enough to move across the world.

WHY WAS WARTBURG WORTH IT: I learned about business and accounting, but I also learned a lot about myself. Wartburg was an environment where I could be myself and discover how my gifts and talents fit in with the rest of the world.

WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR CURRENT STUDENTS: Take advantage of travel opportunities. Whether it is a domestic service trip or time abroad, those experiences will stay with you for the rest of your life.
