Commission Report
Commission Wartburg is a long-range planning initiative established
by the Wartburg College Board of Regents in February 1999 and
launched in April 1999. The commission has involved 235 Wartburg
alumni and friends in creating a blueprint for the future. It
represents the most comprehensive planning effort in the college's
history.
Commission members have served
on one of eight task forces to examine Wartburg's strengths, needs,
and aspirations and make recommendations for the college's future
advancement. More than 100 faculty, staff, and students have served
in an informational capacity, providing materials or making presentations
to the task forces as requested.
Task force members and the campus
community gathered on Saturday, May 20, to celebrate the end of
the Commission. At that event, a summary report of the task force
recommendations was presented to the Wartburg College Board of
Regents for its review and prioritization. You may access the
report from this Web site, or you may request a printed copy of
the report by contacting Ms. Janeen Stewart, Executive Director
of Commission Wartburg, at 319-352-8331 or janeen.stewart@wartburg.edu.
During the summer, faculty, staff,
students, and other vital college boards ranked each recommendation
in regard to level of importance. The Board of Regents then prioritized
the recommendations based on the rankings and announced final
priorities during Homecoming weekend festivities October 6-8,
2000. That report is also accessible from this Web site or you
may request a printed copy from Ms. Stewart.
Because of outstanding leadership
and visionary thinking, Commission Wartburg promises to have a
dramatic impact on Wartburg College and its students far into
the future.
