Commission Wartburg: Identifying strategies for the future, enlightened by a rich heritage, represents the most comprehensive planning effort in Wartburg College’s history.

The recommendations presented in this summary report promise to have a dramatic impact on the progress and position of the college far into the future.

The work of the commission advances Wartburg’s historic commitment to educational excellence and the success of our students. This commitment will continue to provide the sustained focus for our future planning. It also helps us build on the college’s rich heritage as we prepare to celebrate our sesquicentennial–the 150th anniversary of Wartburg’s founding–in 2002.

Commission Wartburg members have provided the college with ambitious plans to boldly move forward in the 21st century and to ensure our sights and aspirations remain high. Ideas for new learning opportunities, new facilities, and new ways of meaningfully engaging alumni and friends in the life and work of the college represent the finest visionary thinking of Wartburg’s key constituent groups.

On behalf of the entire campus community, I wish to thank the members of Commission Wartburg and those who served in leadership capacities for giving so generously of their time, energy, and dreams. You have challenged Wartburg College to chart a course of distinction by providing a blueprint for our future. We are committed to implementing as many of the recommendations as possible within our physical, human, and financial abilities.
