Sexual
Misconduct and Assault Resource Team (SMART)
SMART is a campus
organization aimed at creating greater awareness about relationship-related
topics. The goal of the SMART organization is to educate and assist
members of the Wartburg community in dealing with situations related
to sexual misconduct. SMART consists of two separate branches.
SMART consists of faculty, staff and student advocates who are
specially trained to provide education and support in sexual assault/harassment
incidents on campus. SMART is also a student-run organization
which provides educational programming about issues related to
dating violence, sexual harassment, sexual assault, and making
responsible sexual choices.
How do I become a member?
To become a member of SMART, you must fill out an application and go through an interview with a member of the executive committee. To become a certified advocate, you must go through the 20 hour, Level I advocacy training, after acceptance onto the team. Membership applications are accepted throughout the academic year. If you have questions, comments, or concerns, please direct those to Stephanie Newsom, Director of Counseling Services, at Ext. 8596 or stephanie.newsom@wartburg.edu.
