What is your favorite aspect
of Wartburg?
I enjoy being able to work with such talented students at Wartburg.
They are outstanding young people who are concerned with the community
around them.
Memorable Moments
One of many memorable experiences was a major breakthrough on
my research project due to a student, Kasandra Riley. Kasandra
had worked with me on an undergraduate research project, so I
knew her well. She was presenting the results of her summer research
at the Mayo Graduate School. The technique she had used in her
project gave me a great idea for discovering the mechanism of
how prohibitin (my pet gene) inhibited the growth of breast cancer
cells. She continues to help me with this technology as a graduate
student at Mayo. Students do teach the professors new tricks!
