Campaign Wartburg met its goals and exceeded expectations:
ENDOWMENT: Goal – $40,850,000
Result – $50,120,067
Increasing the endowment was identified as the most important Campaign
Wartburg objective in terms of the college’s future growth and
financial strength. Through the Campaign, the endowment has grown significantly
and will continue to increase as a result of gift commitments made to
the Campaign.
Endowment growth increases financial aid for students and funds faculty chair positions, sabbaticals, research, and professional development. It also helped implement the Wartburg honors program and expanded global and multicultural study opportunities, technology enhancement, and service learning.
FACILITIES AND SPECIAL PROJECTS:
Goal – $40,150,000 Result – $32,484,287
At the outset of Campaign Wartburg, three major facility projects were
planned: renovation and additions to Becker Hall of Science and the
Student Union and development of a new outdoor athletic complex. As
noted in this book, these projects have been accomplished with additional
benefits, including a new maintenance facility; improvements to residence
halls, offices, and academic areas; and classroom technology.
ANNUAL FUND: Goal – $7,000,000
Result – $7,443,930
During Campaign Wartburg, the Annual Fund has grown substantially. Annual
Fund gifts help underwrite the operating budget of the college and allow
Wartburg to keep tuition affordable. In addition, these gifts provide
operating revenue to maintain quality facilities, recruit and retain
strong faculty and staff members, and fund financial aid for students.
Campaign Wartburg allowed the college to build residence halls like
Knights Village, which introduced apartment-style living at Wartburg.
Improved technology and increased access to computers and other resources
are a direct result of Campaign Wartburg.
