Where
in the World Are Our Alumni?
You'll find Wartburg alumni in nearly
all corners of the world. We asked them what their suggestions were
for current students as they plan their careers.
Roman Lubinecky, 1975, is
Managing Director of Global Steel Africa, Ltd. in Nairobi, Kenya. He
travels extensively with a company that does arched steel construction.
He suggests that students look for
employment that provides opportunities to learn where people are
willing to teach them. He says that "You really don't
know how much more there is to learn until you see how much is out
there that you know nothing about." He values
his Wartburg education because it provided an orientation to many
different subjects and opened the door to
continue his education.

Héctor Varela |
Héctor
A. Varela graduated in 1992 with an emphases
in Marketing, International Business, and Management.
He is a Fundraising Officer for Fundación Hondureña de Ambiente
y Desarrollo Vida (Environmental NGO). He's interested
in contacts from students or professionals with interests
in fundraising/development.
Hector
suggests that students, "Learn, as much as you can
about other cultures. It is important to know that the human
race is just one, but with so many cultural and ethnic differences.Learn
at least another language in order to feel really international.
Learn Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, German or any
other language. But remember, it is not just learning
the language that one will overcome obstacles in life;
one must learn to appreciate the cultures as well."
"I
valued from Wartburg the opportunity to interact with people
from so many countries and cultures. That made me
more open minded about life. Having people from all
over the world made Wartburg a worthy lifetime experience
that I recommend to any American or International student
interested in expanding his/her life."

very sure of achieving your goals.
For those
students who may be preparing to work with people from other
cultures, be very careful. You need to respect other cultures
and their values. If you are going to work in other cultures,
be very flexible in your attitude toward the world.
