Quick Facts About the Department

Wartburg offers majors in business administration, economics, and accounting and concentrations in marketing, management, finance, international business, and sports management.

Business administration and economics is the largest department with more than 300 majors.

With over 50 courses, the Wartburg College business administration and economics department offers a wider variety of business courses than many larger private colleges.

Through the Portfolio Managment course, students invest the dividends and interest from a portfolio valued at over $1 million in assets.

Programs in this department are designed for completion in four years.

In addition to awards through the Regents and Presidential programs, 39 additional scholarships are available for business, accounting, and economics majors.

Wartburg’s Phi Beta Lambda Chapter regularly wins state and national awards and hosted the 2003 Iowa State Conference. Students in the chapter of the American Marketing Association apply their skills through a wide range of hand-on projects and interactions with marketing professionals.

As part of your education at Wartburg College, you will work through many of the ethical challenges now confronting the business world.You’ll be prepared to make and stand behind difficult decisions and gain hands-on experience sought by many employers.

You’ll also find career opportunities in today’s fast-paced business environment in fields like public or private accounting, government service, healthcare management, marketing, and nonprofit organizations.

At Wartburg College, you’ll have opportunities for internships and field experiences in your major. More than 80 percent of the college’s business administration and economics majors complete at least one internship before graduating.

You can also develop your management skills through Wartburg College’s leadership certification program and through other opportunities in campus organizations.
