Wartburg Advocates - Alumni Association | Wartburg College, Waverly, Iowa USA

Orange Ambassadors are alumni, parents, and friends who seek to identify, recruit and equip Wartburg alumni and friends to serve as volunteer representatives of, and advocates for, Wartburg in their local communities – congregations, schools, businesses and local communities. The ambassadors help build and maintain a strong relationship between Wartburg and members’ communities in many ways.

General Promotions
- Send students admissions information about Wartburg online
- Share Wartburg news with your friends and peers through Facebook or other social media.
- Encourage youth in your community, school or church who are looking at colleges to consider Wartburg
- Encourage high school students to attend Iowa Private College Week in August, or a Lutheran College Fair
- Volunteer to interview at one of the scholarship days (PDF)
- Post and distribute admissions literature in appropriate places – youth rooms, college information centers, career centers, church bulletin boards, and other places that would be appropriate. Contact Todd Coleman if you would like to receive admissions materials.
- Invite a Wartburg music ensemble to Perform in their community
- Represent Wartburg at a college fair
- Provide internships or mentor a student through the Orange Connection
- Bring a prospective student to Homecoming with you.
- Keep up-to-date with things going on in admissions through the admissions blog.

Encourage your congregation to participate in the EPIC program
Talk with your pastor about inviting an admissions or church relations representative to come to your church to talk about Wartburg

Adopt-A-School Program

Send a list of high school sophomores and juniors to the Admissions Office
Encourage youth in your community, school or church to visit Wartburg for special events such as: Jr. High Event, Senior High Event, or Christmas with Wartburg
Encourage high school juniors to attend Wartburg’s Junior Visit Day in April

Community and Governmental Awareness Program
- Contact your senators, representatives and govenor about the importance of private colleges in Iowa.
- Participate or host a letter writing campagain for the Iowa Tuition Grant funding.
- Attend Wartburg Day at the Capital.
Other Ideas
- Bring a prospective student with you to homecoming, a home or away athletic event, Christmas with Wartburg, etc.
