Financial
Assistance for International Students
Financial aid is available
to Wartburg international students in the form of grants, scholarships,
and student employment. You should have your sponsor write a letter
of support to the Wartburg College Admissions Office. Student employment
is available on campus to help pay personal expenses, but earnings
will not be sufficient to pay a significant amount of tuition costs.
The Wartburg College International
Scholarship Program recognizes the academic achievement of international
students, their contribution to campus and community life, and their
financial need. Students may qualify for a Ruppe Scholarship awarded
at the time of admission and/or a High Performance Scholarship awarded
after the completion of nine course credits.
The
Loret Ruppe International Student Scholarships (PDF)
ranging from $1,000 up to $20,000
Awards are based upon scholastic achievement, participation in co-curricular
activities as music, sports, or drama, community service, and financial
need. This scholarship program honors the late Loret Miller Ruppe,
former director of the Peace Corps and U.S. Ambassador to Norway,
whose conviction was that “peace work needs to be everybody’s
work.”
High
Performance Scholarships (PDF) up to $2,000
After completing nine course credits at Wartburg, international
students who participate in two or more campus activities and achieve
a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above may apply. Requests
are due within three weeks after the end of the academic term. The
Director of Financial Aid will evaluate each application and provide
a written decision to the applicant within eight weeks after the
end of the term.
