Wartburg President's Advisory Council

Commission Wartburg was a first step in engaging Wartburg’s constituents in a long-range planning effort for the future advancement of the college. As a direct result of the success of Commission Wartburg, Wartburg put into place in 2002 a national advisory board initiative to continue the momentum started through the Commission process.

The advisory boards have a direct reporting link to the Board of Regents through the President’s Advisory Council (PAC), which serves as an oversight group to review recommendations of the advisory boards and act as a sounding board on issues that are central to the entire campus. The chair of the PAC serves as a member of the Board of Regents. Membership on the PAC is comprised of chairpersons of each national advisory board and “at-large” members who represent a wide range of expertise and disciplines.

Each advisory board is chaired by a volunteer and facilitated by a member of the faculty or staff. They are advisory in role and scope. Janeen Stewart, assistant to the president, handles oversight, coordination, and communication responsibilities.

Nine national advisory boards are currently in place for Iowa Broadcasting Archives,
Business Department, Communication Arts Department, Diversity Programs, Leadership Program, Library, Pathways Center, Social Work Department, and Vocations Program.

Statement of Purpose
Wartburg National Advisory Boards

• National Advisory Boards will assist pre-determined College programs and departments in the process of evaluation and planning. Each board will play an integral role in recommending ways to establish and meet institutional goals. This is achieved through the advice, advocacy, expertise, goodwill, and financial support of advisory board members.

• National Advisory Boards will provide an avenue for alumni and friends from across the country to stay connected to the college and for enhanced communication between the college and its constituents.

• Members will provide additional competencies and talents that complement and enhance the skills and expertise of the President’s Advisory Council and Board of Regents members.
