Social work department to host Holiday Shoppe

Nov. 02, 2007

WAVERLY, Iowa – The Wartburg College Holiday Shoppe Committee has announced plans to host the 21st annual Bremer County Holiday Shoppe.

Through donations from the community, the Shoppe provides more than 225 families with holiday items. These means 450 children each receive two big toys, three stocking-stuffers, a book and a clothing item. Additionally, all families receive a game, a toiletry item and a roll of wrapping paper.

The Shoppe is a joint effort between the Wartburg College Social Work Club, Bremer County Department of Human Services, Community Action and Wartburg Student Athletic Advisory Committee.

The shopping event will take place Dec. 4 and 5 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Waverly.

Shoppe coordinators are in the process of accepting monetary and gift donations. Checks should be made out to “Wartburg College Holiday Shoppe” and sent to: Alycia Heneke, Senior Chair Donations Coordinator, Box 762, 100 Wartburg Blvd., Waverly, IA 50677.

Unwrapped, new gift donations for children from infancy to age 18 can be taken to Redeemer Lutheran Church in Waverly Sunday, Dec. 2, between 1 and 7 p.m. Food donations are also accepted.
