Wartburg College’s annual Meistersinger Honor Band Festival will feature nearly 200 high school students from the Midwest Feb. 3-4.

The free festival finale concert will begin at 2:15 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4, in Neumann Auditorium. The Wartburg College Wind Ensemble will perform “Danse Folatre” and “Gavorkna Fanfare,” while the college’s Symphonic Band’s repertoire will include “Satiric Dances,” “The Star-Spangled Banner” and “Today is the Gift.”

The high school honor groups will begin their concerts at 3 p.m. under the direction of Karen Fannin, director of bands and assistant director of the School of Music at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and Elizabeth Fritz, a retired band teacher who now creates and teaches online instruction for pre-service music students and professional learning for music educators.

The Ninth-Grade Honor Band will perform “The Thunder and the Roar,” “Adagio for Winds,” “Amen!” and “Big Four March.” The Senior Honor Band will play selections from “The Danserye,” “Ubi Caritas” and “Melodious Thunk.”
