Dr. Kunihiko Terasawa hosted 16 Wartburg alumni, students and professors at the third annual Tokyo Outfly Saturday, Aug. 1, at the Ivy Hall.

Alumni and student attendees included Yoshitsugu Ujō ’04, Ryuichi Maekawa ’05, Sayumi Abe ’06, Akiko Miyazawa ’07, Shigeru Ōta ’07, Hiroyuki Yokota ’07, Ayako Shimizu ’08, Yumi Mikajiri ’08, Keita Furumoto ’13, Ryōhei Edazawa ’15 and Tomokazu Kimura ’18.

Terasawa, an assistant professor of religion, was excited to see the group grow and hear how Wartburg impacted the lives of these alumni.

The group shared memories from their Wartburg experience and updates from their life today, including Abe’s marriage and the birth of Yokota’s son. Ōta, who also celebrated the birth of a son this year, shared how he walked 110 miles from his hometown of Nagano to Tokyo to reflect on his life as a father-to-be.

Two American alumni in Japan—Paul Forsyth ’04 and SiRena Webb ’12—joined the group for its celebration. Forsyth teaches English at the Prudential Insurance Company in Tokyo and Webb teaches English at the public high school in Fukui. Dr. Joyce Boss, who was in Kyoto for a conference, also participated.
