The art of romance will be featured in a new exhibit in Wartburg College’s Waldemar A. Schmidt Gallery, beginning Friday, March 9.

Alex Dooley’s “Bedtime Stories,” a narrative inspired by the covers of romance novels, will run through April 19 in the gallery in the Bachman Fine Arts Center, 9 a.m.-7 p.m. daily or by appointment. Admission is free.

Gallery director Scott Hudson describes the collection of large watercolor paintings and pen-and-ink drawings as capturing “the enchantment of passion and romance” — from real relationships to depictions in popular culture.

Dooley, an adjunct professor at the University of Northern Iowa, has had her work featured at exhibits throughout Iowa and the Midwest and in Boston.

A reception for Dooley will be Friday, March 23, 6-8 p.m., in the gallery.
