Wartburg College student media took home 18 awards from the Iowa College Media Association’s annual conference in Des Moines, Feb. 2-3.

Wartburg Television received four awards, including first place in sportscasting, second and third place in long-form documentary and third place in storytelling.

Campus radio station KWAR 89.9 swept the sports broadcasting category, winning first, second and third place. KWAR got second-place awards for best air personality and best promo, PSA or commercial.

The Trumpet newspaper won second- and third-place awards for best sports feature and third for best op-ed section. The student newspaper also received honorable mention for best editorial leadership, best news story, and best sports photograph. 

In the multimedia category, The Circuit won first place for best online video, and second place for best multiple media slide show and best interactive graphic.

Pamela Ohrt, Wartburg College assistant professor of communication arts and ICMA executive director, moderated the awards ceremony.
