Wartburg College President Darrel Colson has appointed Mark Hanawalt as chair of President’s Advisory Council.

Hanawalt is president of United Equipment Accessories, Inc. in Waverly. A graduate of Cornell College with degrees in economics and business, Hanawalt serves on the board of trustees for the State Bank and Trust Company in Waverly, is a board member of the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community and the Waverly Community Foundation, and serves on the executive board of the Iowa Association of Business and Industry.

“Mark is an ideal person to chair the Wartburg President’s Advisory Council,” Colson said. “He is a lifelong resident of Waverly, he and his entire family are products of small private Midwest liberal arts colleges, and he possesses the leadership skills, vision, and passion to promote and advance Wartburg College in today’s competitive climate.”

The President’s Advisory Council includes leaders from around the country who represent a wide range of expertise and disciplines. Members offer counsel to the president on issues that are central to the entire campus. The group’s function is advisory in role and scope.
