WARTBURG PRSSA

The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) is the foremost organization for students interested in public relations and communications. We seek to advance the public relations profession by nurturing generations of future professionals. We advocate rigorous academic standards for public relations education, the highest ethical principles and diversity in the profession. The Wartburg chapter is among 300 top public relations programs across the U.S., Argentina, and Colombia.

  • PRSA Jobcenter. Browse career resources and search for public relations employment opportunities all over the world with PRSA Jobcenter.
  • Internships. Get job-hunting tips, upload your résumé and find the most recent internship opportunities through the PRSSA Internship Center.
  • PRSA Associate Membership. Start networking and get connected to 20,000 public relations professionals when you join PRSA as an Associate Member for only $60 up to five months before or two years after graduation. Professional membership is usually about $250.
  • PRSA Sections. PRSA Professional Interest Sections connect you to others who work in a niche industry, such as sports, health care or the military. Check out PRSA’s Section specifically for New Professionals.

WHAT WE DO

PRSSA members have opportunities to connect and network locally through our chapter events and throughout the country by attending the Leadership Rally, Regional Conferences, National Conference, and National Assembly, all in different locations varying throughout the year. At these events members are able to connect with other PRSSA members, network with professionals, and learn about the industry in cities other than their own. Along with events PRSSA also hosts speakers to share their experience in the real world including interview and resume tips.

Chris serves as strategic counsel for the vice president of advancement and generates marketing approaches for the college. He is an account executive and manages the Marketing & Communication Office and Digital Print Center staff of Wartburg College. As an independent consultant, his clients have been based in Washington, D.C., New York, Charleston, S.C., New Orleans, and other locations around the Midwest. He is a past national vice president for PRSSA National and has been a Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) member since 2003.

Dr. Pier holds a B.A. degree in communication from Minnesota State University at Moorhead, an M.A. degree in communication from Missouri State University at Springfield, and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Pier is a member of the National Communication Association and International Communication Association. She is the co-author of three books, Campaign ’96, published in 1999, The Primary Decision: A Functional Analysis of Debates in Presidential Primaries, published in 2002, and Campaign 2000, published in 2003.
